I'm not fond of the book. The blatant commercial appeal of the book is incredibly distracting, and removes me from the delicate whimsey of the rest of the piece --- which is gorgeous and delightful.
Now, I don't know russian. So, there might be a specific point, and dead-set reason for this book being used that I am just completely missing because of that - and in that case, just shut me up XD LOL
but I would still love to see this same concept done with just a blank, un-distracting book. Like a plain covered journal /sketch book, or even just a solid-covered novel with just words on the binding so it doesn't take away from the overall image.

I see where you're coming from - and no, the book does not have any special significance, it's just a collection of Russian comedy classics! I just picked it because I thought the photo looked a bit plain without a bit of pattern. Maybe I'll try something similar in the future, with a plain journal but with vibrant wallpaper or background

I like the more neutral colour pallette in this one -- but the vibrant one I can imagine being just as gorgeous, but just a much different emotion
